Realty, Rules and Rubbish Information

Have you noticed more police at busy junctions on your way to and from work? I certainly have, and along with the visible presence, a fair few road users getting a talking to. It turns out the police, in association with TfL are clamping down on all road users breaking the rules. That includes you, on a bike, so it’s worth riding a bit sensibly for the next couple of months, there’s no point getting into unnecessary trouble, and having wait to talk to the police will only take away the small time saving you managed when you breezed through that red light.

It’s probably no coincidence that this coincides with better weather and more people using bikes to get around London, as well as the upcoming launch of the bike-hire scheme. If you’re one of those people considering getting a new bike then you’ll be looking for advice and information. Once again FMFT can bring you the experts’* view from Pro Sports World in the form of an article called “What Constitutes A Mountain Bike To Be Ready For A Rugged Drive?. Here you can learn about “tires made form strong rubber” and that “Basing on the type of suspension they possess, we can categorize the mountain bikes into soft tails, hard tails, dual suspension bikes and fully rigid”, which is all invaluable information, I’m sure. Intriguingly the (in no way) wholly informed and scientific" article also talks about time trial bikes,
“A time trial bike doesn’t come with a suspension and is generally used for short distances. These don’t have a correct vestigial pad or a seat and lighter when compared with other bikes and weigh around 15-20 around lighter”.
This has only served to confuse me, and I know what a time trial bike is.

In contrast to the news about Black Hawk banning cyclists, it seems not all of Colorado is so anti-bike. Fort Collins now has a real estate company (or Estate Agents to those of us who are less American) that is offering pedal tours of its homes for sale. Unfortunately you don’t get to ride your bike straight through the house you might buy, but at least you can get there by bike and check out the local area. Better than a Foxtons mini any day of the week.
