Prove How Fast You Are.

I love it when things come together. It makes mw feel like we at FMFT are ahead of the curve somewhat. No sooner do we write posts about how it’s quicker to ride to work than to get the bus, and about campaigning bike wear, than those two things combine in a glorious single image.

Suddenly we came across Quickerbybike.com where you can buy your own lycra or baggy shorts and tops to point out to all the cars your passing on your commute, that you are, in fact, going faster than them. I’m sure they’ll all enjoy that, just like telling someone just that little too late that they’ve made the wrong decision. People appreciate that kind of thing.

The people at Quickerbybike.com also support all forms of sensible cycling as well, like not running red lights and not riding on pavements. I like them a lot already.

Of course, what really helps cyclists to be quicker than the prevailing traffic (like weather) are the useful routes that are open to us (legally) and are not as handy for cars. The London Cycling Campaign awards have identified the most improved roads in the city for cyclists. Both in North London and not far from either of our commutes, Agar Grove and Pentonville Road were the winners as reported in the Evening Standard.
