Hangovers and Moving

By the time we come back on Monday we’ll know who the next Downhill World Champion is. We’ll also probably have something of a collective hangover after a session of watching other people ride bikes better than us while we drink beer. Sometimes this is the best way to enjoy cycling, and can leave you just as tired, emotional and breathless as a big hill climb or thrilling downhill.

In the meantime it’s been a while since we addressed the trendy end of cycling, where it’s required to ride with no brakes and to ignore the whole idea of a freewheel in the pursuit of cool rather than practicality (although, obviously not Pursuit in the track cycling sense, because using a bike for it’s intended purpose is just clearly not cool). However, we haven’t forgotten about it (just been more caught up in our own riding over the summer) and in the temporary absence of BikesnobNYC we get the rare chance to scoop the New York blogger on his own territory. Having scoured the internet as ever in the pursuit of something to keep us entertained at work we were delighted to find a poster from removal company Flatrate, that confirmed our suspicions about just how much of an integral part of the hipster culture a fixed gear bike is. Enjoy it for yourself (along with other things to keep you giggling through your Friday at work) here.

For the purposes of keeping this blog English and not getting too American, please substitute any trendy New York areas for Gritty East London ones.

Happy Weekend
