Fighting Traffic

It’s been a while since we brought you videos of people riding their bikes to work, because, frankly, we were finding them a bit boring. Luckily we managed to come across a whole selection that are a bit more interesting. This is mostly because they involve going fast and overtaking cars, which is always fun in our book.

So to set you up for the weekend and get you through your Friday, have a look at this selection of videos by someone called “EMDcam” (and I’m just going to guess here that that isn’t his real name).

On the subject of dealing with other road users it always amazes me that some days can be absolutely fine on the roads, with surprisingly courteous drivers and just very few issues, while other days on the same route can be absolutely jammed full of idiots. Those are the days where every junction is a gamble and you find yourself fighting for space with cars that are determined to leave you as close into the gutter as they can. I’m never sure if it’s because I’m in a hurry, or just may state of mind, but there do seem to be days when everyone is out to kill you. You end up getting where you’re going in a fighty mood. I have learned that this is not the best time to attempt subtle bike fiddling, but it may be the ideal time to fit a new and particularly tight tyre.

If any day is the perfect candidate for one of those days surely it’s today, Friday 13th.
